VETERAN APPRECIATION

We Appreciate You and All That You Do

Joe "The Jet" Perry, FB San Francisco 49ers

Fletcher Joseph Perry was born on January 22, 1927 and was a fullback for the San Francisco 49ers from 1948-60 and then again in 1963, and played for the Baltimore Colts from 1961-1962. Perry served in the military during World War II and after that played football at a junior college, winning many accolades. From there he went on to begin his tenure with the 49ers. When Perry retired he was the NFL rushing leader, and was the first fullback to have back to back 1000+ yard seasons. In 1969 Perry was inducted in the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame. Perry left us on April 25, 2011 after struggling with complications from dementia. Perry was inspirational for many future NFL players and will forever be in the hearts of minds of 49er fans and true fans of the game of football.
